The last 24 hours looks like this…

1) St. Louis is fun. We saw the arch this morning but didn’t go up
it. It is INCREDIBLE, it’s very much of the "Futurists" contemporary
architectural design, it’s all metal and smooth and curvy.

2) We went to "Union Station" where there USED to be a train station
but now = a mall. We went paddle boating in a fake lake inside the mall
(but it was open air) and saw turtles. VERY FUN! I discovered that my
carpel tunnel is delicate and sensitive. I won’t be able to go rock
climbing on the boat. Boo hoo on me… there’s so much to do though, so
whatevs.

2.5) The weather has been amazing. Warm, sunny and not all rainy and
thunderstorm-y like weather.com said. We got mani and pedis in WALMART!
I had to draw the line when Alyssa (Misty’s daughter) suggested eating
at HOOTERS.

3) Misty is fun, her friend SHerry (who is coming along with us and bringing her 15 year old son), is also fun.

4) Misty’s kids are HILARIOUS and FUN! I think that when MIsty and
Sherry go a-drinking I will be having cokes with her kids and having
adventures on the boat… like searching for ghosts and playing at the
arcade…

5) I did MORE research on the boat and there are A TON of things to
do. Even YOGA classes! There is also DDR in the arcade!!!
WHOA!!!! There are even clohtes and perfume shops. There is a piano
bar, a club called "Dungeon" or something that makes me think of
leather, chains and whips…

6) Misty showed me the excursions we’ve signed up to do when we
dock: we will go snorkelling, have a jeep expedition and see blue
iguanas, go bottom fishing in Cozumel, go shopping in Haiti, go tubing
and drifting down a river in Jamaica… we might even go jet skiiing…

7) I miss my boyfriend John and think of him non-stop.

8) Sports seem to be big in St. Louis and on the boat. Swimming
(duh,) volleyball, mini-golf, track, gym, ice skating, in-line
skating… craziness, can’t wait.

9) enough bullets. this is the last blog until April 3

relax! don’t do it…

So I’m going on a cruise with my friend Misty and her family.

This is my first excursion where I don’t have to think so much. No itineraries packed with visits to museums, historic buildings, people watching, cultural events, architectural wonders, or politically significant sites.  My trip won’t feel like New York, Austin, ‘Frisco, Orlando, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, London, Canterbury, Vancouver, or even Dusseldorf! (urgh)

For the first time, the itinerary is out of my hands!

It will be packed with outdoor adventures, natural and earthy wonders, unforgettable ocean views, fresh air, soft sand, and warm sun-drenched laziness. I won’t be rushing to pack everything in, I will be slowing down to stretch everything out. Will I finally be able to RELAX?

I won’t have internet, nor cell phone and even my shuffle is going to crap out because I won’t have a comp to charge it!!!

Wish me luck–I’m sure I will have a good time, but this is so new to me that I’m pretty excited and have no idea what to expect…

I have a boyfriend. We spend all of our time together. We are totally in love. People are jealous. We get along like a house on fire.

The strange thing is… I was his girlfriend for 2 years, from 1999-2001. When I first moved to DC, I met him almost immediately at a club. I had this guy on my ass and I wanted to get rid of him so I saw this other cute guy with glasses on… and we ended up dating for 2 years! We broke up on bad terms and it basically was due to circumstances. I was young 24 years old and still needed to party. I also had a bad job and too much stress. I needed to go through it alone and in my own time. Now 5 years later on, after we broke up… we see each other again! I had lived less than a mile away from him and never once ran into him–NOT ONCE.

One unseasonably warm day in January, I see him at Dupont Circle and it piques an interest for both of us. We find each other on myspace and try to see if we can be friends. We are not only SO very good as friends but the chemistry is totally there with a passion.

Long story short, after reconnecting, we’ve been nearly inseparable and we’re planning a trip to Rome for my 30th birthday!

Life is funny and GOOD!
