When I grow up
Friday, June 2nd, 2006When I was little I always wanted to be a scientist. At an early age I imagined that science was an area of tangible, quantitative, definitive, hard facts. You couldn’t contest it, there was no debate, and all you had to do was study, memorize, and understand processes and you were done! I liked that there was an element of bookishness and nerdiness involved. I also loved that scientists could study the earth, the solar system and the life and energy in between in rational and profound ways. I used to love math, especially equations, geometry, and calculus. Calculus gave me a major hard-on in high school because it offered complex problems and ideas that were still quantitative, definitive and incontestable. I liked having one answer for the problem and no gray area for discussion.
I could still be way into if I didn’t develop a horrific attention deficit disorder and didn’t drink all the wrinkles out of my brain (and subsequently lose my ability to retain memories!)
Now I want to be the following:
- a skater (used to skate in elementary)
- a breakdancer (but all I’m breaking nowadays are muscles and bones!)
- a comic (I need to grow some ovaries and just get up on a stage)
- a deejay (perhaps I should just move to the burbs where I can blast my turntables)
- a pimp for all my gay boys (I practically know the entire city and they all want a matchmaker, why not make some money off of it?)
- ANYTHING that would have me entertaining and making connections…
Right now I’m entertaining no one but myself.
Oh yeah, big shout outs to new boys in my life:
- Andrew aka "Cupcake"
- Andrew aka "you wish it was you who licked that guy’s crotch at Taint"
- Don, Victor, Jerry, Jason, Henry (Orlando homos, traveling to Boystown-Chicago in July!)
- Matthew "keep me up for hours chatting on the phone" Frenchie
- Paul G. (not a new boy in my life, but back in it in a major way!)
And to the girl:
- Susan who shares my sister’s FULL name (first, middle, last) minus 2 letters!!!!!!!!!!!! We are psychic sisters and even blog about the same thing on the same days!
