scary things…
In time for Halloween… my list of scary things:
10) a negative balance in my bank account… eeeek!
9) my asshole next door neighbor leaving another note on my door! (more obnoxious than scary)
cavities… grrr! anything dentist related, really.
7) the Catholic Church… child molestations, anti-contraception/abortion stance, the Old Boy’s club, secret hand shakes and rituals, rampant cover ups and corruption from the Vatican… eeek! 
6) Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rice… oh my! (oh and Bush too!)
they have gone on for far too long! How the hell did they get elected for a second term after such shenanigans as "Tax Cuts for the Uber Wealthy," "Leave no Child Behind," "Sweet heart deals for Halliburton," and "Sadaam is best friends with Al Queda, so let’s bomb the Jesus out of ‘em" to name a few… as my good friend Roz says (who she heard from someone else in an effort to find some consolation):"you can’t go changing horsemen in the apocalypse."
5) The potential for another Roberts on the Supreme Court… urgh.
I hope she or he is neither ultra conservative (No Federalist Society leaders please), nor a "strict constructionist" (code for right-winger), nor anti-abortion…
4) bugs and insects, ooh… spiders! don’t tell me that shit doesn’t scare you!
3) Arnold Schwarzenegger–on his own, he’s pretty scary (and a total womanizing asshole) but because he’s THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA!!! THE MOST important state in the union (not JUST because that’s where I was born and raised but because of the strength of its economy, its rich diversity, Hollyweird, and so much more)
2) Aggressive and pro-active anti-choice assholes who are in power. Especially if they’re against stem-cell research and sex education. Oh, and why don’t we also throw in creationists who are trying to put bibles in every school..
and finally, last but not least…
1) scary movies. everything trips me out. Even the dumbest spoof movies scare me. I have an active imagination. I watched the exorcist once and I couldn’t turn the lights out of my apartment for weeks…

I don’t get it. You were brought up Catholic just as you were brought up in California. Why bash the Catholic Church. ok the sex scandles? 1. these people that did it were men, not the church. the cover up? i don’t agree with the coverup but it’s being taken care of now. My heart goes out to the families and those that did abuse should be castrated and locked up forever. 2. more clergy of other religions have molested than in the catholic church. doesn’t make it better, actually, worse. 3. molestations happen in families, fathers, brothers, uncles, grandparents even. are you going to bash the family institution now?????
Anti birth control? Anti Abortion? Would you have an abortion? Would you kill an innocent child with a heart and soul and lungs and fingers and toes. and if the fetus is not old enough for fingers and toes, there is still a heart and soul. NO WAY!!!!!
what hand shakes and rituals are you talking about debbie. have you no clue about the faith you were raised in? Have you forgotten the beautiful Mass , the Eucharist with the body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ???? Have you forgotten the beauty of the Readings from the Bible? the music that would life your soul from the deepest depression?
I’m so sad to know that you have. It sure sounds like it. it disturbs me greatly when you or someone else bashes what they don’t know. Of course, I can understand those who fear what they don’t know, but you, who know the Church, who knows the great joy you feel and fullfilment of the HOly Spirit as you receive the Eucharist. I’m very sad. Sad and Annoyed.

Alex–I’m bashing the Church not its followers.
1) You “don’t agree with the cover up”… well if they didn’t get caught they would have kept on doing it. That’s the Catholic Church policy and they never apologized! You forgive them for something that they would have continued to do (since the 1950s and before until they were caught!) and who knows what else they’re covering up? I may post an article later that is sure to make your heart race and blood percolate!
2) I don’t know where you find that clergy in other churches molest more kids… does that make it any better. one molestation and one cover up is too many!
also, you’re a mother of 3 kids… whatever happened to “if so-and-so jumped off the cliff would you?” Just because someone else is worse doesn’t excuse it or diminish the crime.
3) “molestations happen in families,” so am I going to bash the family institution? That’s a philosophically weak rhetorical argument justifying your stance. I’ll bash the individuals within a family who molest. The fact that these criminal priests molested children and escaped the law and sought shelter and protection when it was documented in the Catholic hierarchy–a structured, governed political body–means that the Church wasn’t practicing what it preaches. If there’s an institution governing families and the criminals who molest and engage in incest are caught, and said “governing family institution” turned a blind eye to it, then yes, I would blame “the family.”

Well, I guess this means that you have had an abortion because your husband was “fixed” and because you use condoms. In the Catholic Hierarchy masturbation is a sin because the sperm has the potential for life. When does the Catholic Church draw the line at life? You over step it every time you use a condom… don’t you know that? You are committing abortions every time your husband straps one on or jerks off. We’re all going to hell Alex.
